Ri·mi·ni   (rĭm'ə-nē, rē'mē-)   
A city of northern Italy on the Adriatic Sea south-southeast of Ravenna. Founded by Umbrians, it became a strategic Roman military base after the third century B.C. Rimini was ruled as part of the Papal States from 1509 to 1860. Population: 138,000.
