roucou

This was a famous plant—Bixa orellana Roucou; and that pulp was the well-known annotto dye of commerce.

They paint themselves with the roucou, sweetly perfumed with hayawa or accaiari.

Roucou is planted of a Kernel much after the same manner as the Cocao-Tree.
