The cross and ball, so frequently found on Egyptian figures, is a circle and the tau cross.

It is noticeable that the Christian flag bears the Tau Cross.

Another interesting form of the cross is the Tau-cross, so called because shaped like the Greek letter tau (T).

The figure found in the tau-cross was the symbol of eternal life with the ancient Egyptians.

There are also ruins of two churches (a monastery having been founded here by St. Columba), and a peculiar tau-cross.
