noun, plural tran·chets [-sheyz; French -she] . Archaeology.
a stone implement with a horizontal, chisellike cutting edge, found at Mesolithic and Neolithic sites in macrolithic form, used as an adz, and in microlithic form, often mounted as the cutting head of an arrow.
