Va·duz (vä-dōōts', fä-) The capital of Liechtenstein, in the western part of the country on the Rhine River. Destroyed during a conflict between Switzerland and the Holy Roman Empire (1499), it was rebuilt in the 1520s and is now a tourist center. Population: 5,050.
