Raoul (raʊl). 1912--?, Swedish diplomat, who helped (1944--45) thousands of Hungarian Jews to escape from the Nazis. After his arrest (1945) by the Soviets nothing is certainly known of him, despite claims that he is still alive he is presumed to have died in prison
