I beg your pardon, Captain Alick, but what had you in the boat?
If ye had kent my Alick, ye wadna wonder at me for what I did.
Good-tempered Tim, the waggoner, who loved his horses, had his grudge against Alick in the matter of corn.
And it always amused her to notice that it irritated Alick to hear her say this.
“I had rather Alick remained a captain than see a number of officers put aside or die to make room for him,” she answered.
But when she had said a word in that sense to Alick, he had tried to turn the suggestion off as a joke.
"Alick Blane's father was the trooper who shot Bradby," he said, and left us to imagine all the rest.
You know that silly Alick McCready that comes running after me.
This is a very nice place, Alick, the only really quiet one we have found.
I suppose there is no doubt about our leaving in the morning, is there, Captain Alick?
