a method of waving the hair by curling it around metal rods from the ends inward toward the scalp.
Also called croquignole wave.


Origin:
1930–35; < French: light blow on the head or nose, small crunchy biscuit, apparently derivative of croquer to crunch (see croquette), though formation is unclear
