The lactometer is used for measuring the purity and richness of milk.
The tests are most conveniently made in a glass cylinder (Fig. 7), which may be purchased with the lactometer.
A hydrometer that is especially adapted to milk is called a lactometer.
The better lactometers have a thermometer with the scale just above or opposite the lactometer scale.
