Forehead and underparts deep vinaceous pink; hindhead and nape ashy blue margined with dusky; base of bill coral, tip black.

"Snuff brown," "vinaceous drab," or "brownish drab" under spots or blotches often occur.

The lighter color of the venter, especially of the belly, contrasts with the duller, darker vinaceous color of the dorsum.

The gills are vinaceous rufus to deep flesh color, strongly sinuate, and irregularly notched along the edge.

These scales are very delicate and vary in color from vinaceous-buff, lilac, wine-purple, or lavender.
